Business Impact Analysis

Find out what your business really depends on, before a disruption shows you.

A Business Impact Analysis (BIA) answers the questions every continuity plan depends on. What are your most important activities? How long can each one stop before the damage becomes serious? What people, systems, suppliers, and information does each one need? Get these answers wrong and even a well-written plan will recover the wrong things in the wrong order.

Why most BIAs miss the real risk

When a BIA form asks for “critical systems,” people list the obvious ones. The hidden dependencies stay hidden: the one admin login, the bookkeeper who works remotely, the supplier with no backup, the spreadsheet that only one person understands. Our facilitated interviews and process walk-throughs trace how work actually gets done, so your team finds these weak points while they’re still cheap to fix.

What you get

  • A list of critical business functions, ranked by impact over time
  • A dependency map of the people, technology, data, facilities, and suppliers behind each function
  • Recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) that your leadership has agreed on
  • Minimum resource needs for running in a degraded state
  • A list of single points of failure, with recommended fixes
  • Clear recovery priorities to guide your continuity and IT disaster recovery plans

How it works

1

Find out

A focused Readiness Diagnostic: we talk with your leaders and the people who do the work, and check the assumptions that matter most.

2

Decide

Your Finding Briefing shows what’s working, what would break first, and what your leaders need to decide.

3

Build and practise

We turn those decisions into plans your people help write, then test them with an exercise.

Who it’s for

Organizations building or refreshing a business continuity plan. Companies facing continuity requirements from insurers, lenders, or customer contracts. Leaders who suspect their current plan is built on assumptions.

The result

Your leaders agree on what matters most and how fast it has to come back, and your IT team or provider knows what the business needs restored first.
